Wednesday 1 October 2014: SIGNS OF FALL
Just a splash of Fall red from Mother Nature signifies the onset of the most colorful season of the year. Here in New Mexico, we don't get the plethora of bright, vivid reds and oranges like the Northeast, but that's OK. We get color, and I wouldn't trade our weather for anyone else's in the continental US. I just love it here (in case I hadn't already made that very clear.)
Thursday 2 October 2014: LINES
Today's theme is "Lines", which opens a lot of different approaches to the topic. I shot a lot of simple things, but just didn't think they had what it takes to impress and/or please this audience. So this one is just a "bit" outside the box...and very divergent from my usual. The purpose of the whole 365 image challenge is to broaden your photographic and editing horizons...this I think was sufficiently challenging... and my horizons feel much broader.
Friday 3 October 2014: OUT OF FOCUS
It is pretty easy to take an image that is out of focus...I do it all the time...unintentionally. Hey, stuff happens! So for the theme for the day, "Out of Focus", I wanted an image that was both - out of focus AND intentional! Shallow depth of field just seemed to me to be the ideal solution. Most of the image is out of focus, but it is that way because it is important to the overall composition. (Besides, you really didn't want to plainly see the face on this model, I can promise you!! LOL)
Saturday 4 October 2014: A HOUSEHOLD CHORE
OK! Nobody likes to do laundry, but it is a necessity of life. The theme for the day, "A Household Chore" brought this one to mind immediately...perhaps because Saturday morning is the time we allot for doing laundry, and that is the time I found out what the theme was. There is nothing I could think of that would make this theme overly interesting...so I opted for the obvious. The good news is, the laundry was done long before I got around to editing and posting this shot.
Sunday 5 October 2014: CHROME & BOKEH
Today's theme is "Color Bokeh"...and I spent some time trying to figure out how I was going to work that into a car show that I was attending this afternoon. This was as close as I could come to it...the front of a beautifully restored classic car, with more chrome than I've seen in one place in this millennium. I love car shows, but I have to say the one thing, as a photographer, that I hate is that to be properly judged, they have to sit with their hoods open and their trunks open and that ruins the classic lines for me. Oh well, I guess they aren't doing it just for ME!!
Monday 6 October 2014: WHOLE
Today's theme is "Whole", with an added proviso that the image needed to be a macro. Those of you who know me will appreciate the fact my mind instantly went to "whole coffee beans" but when I got home to look for some, I had none! (I can't use those in my Keurig! LOL) Desperate, I began scouring the house for something tiny that was also still interesting...I settled on ONE of the Alstroemeria in the vase on the table. A nice added black background and light from a flash with a snoot, and VIOLA!! A "WHOLE" flower...and a pretty one too, if I may say so.
Tuesday 7 October 2014: FOR SALE
The first thing that came to mind when I read this theme, "For Sale" was housing, but then I thought that would be about as interesting as dirt. So, on my lunch walk, I searched for an alternate approach. As I passed this fast-food restaurant, their wall full of colorful posters touting their myriad culinary offerings, caught my eye. Ad, after ad, after ad...conveniently all in a row to aid me in my photo quest for the day. In case you are wondering, all those items are STILL for sale as my dietary choices these days preclude nearly everything pictured! :-)
